MEDJUGORJE NEWS 2011®

Welcome to Medjugorje News 2011.  I hope you are enjoying Immaculate Mary, the devotional song you are now hopefully listening to. The lyrics can be found at the bottom of this page.  I  was inspired to write the song whilst in Medjugorje.

  It has to be said that Our Lady had a hand in the writing of this Devotional, as  it was through her Grace i was guided to compose this song in less than ten minutes, something unheard of for me, as i normally take many hours, if not days to write a song. I remember feeling the need to return from the statue, outside Saint James Church.  When i arrived back at my hotel room, i picked up my guitar and the tune was given me, immediately.  As for the lyrics, it was as if i could let go of the pen, and it would have continued writing regardless, something inexplicable to me!!!

I first met Father Slavko Barbaric, the six visionaries guardian, when my parents told me about the Virgin Mary Apparitions in 1997. And we decided shortly thereafter to go on a Catholic pilgrimage to Medjugorje.  I was skeptical but i was told Six Visionaries were having Apparitions of Our Lady, the Mother of Jesus. In the small Mountain Village of Medjugorje, in the heart of Bosnia Herzegovina. When i first arrived i felt a serenity and euphoria that i could not comprehend, i felt like i was in another, world a bit like Saint Francis must have felt when he gave away all his worldly possessions.  I had a late meal in the house i was staying at, and next morning i found myself praying by Our Lady's statue, shortly after i wrote the song. 

I was not far from the statue of Our Lady of Medjugorje when Father Slavko spotted me in the crowd, with my guitar.  Fr Slavko beckoned me forward, with his hand and said in his own inimitable way.  "You, come play a song for us."  This was before one of his discussions, behind Saint James Church, in the marquee, A place where they hold the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday.  So the next day I sang very nervously for the very first time, Immaculate Mary.  Father Slavko then  told me i was to sing inside Saint James the following day.  "Yes Father Slavko" i said, not realizing how huge the church was. I later learned when i played to seven hundred people in the congregation, boy was i nervous, i was praying Padre Pio was looking over me and of course Our Lady.
I had never sung a Marian song or even a Christian song in a church before, and certainly not one, I had written only a day earlier.  When it was time for me to sing, I was instantly inspired and moved by a young woman about twenty, sitting directly in front of me, in a wheelchair she was with her parents I think.  Although she could not see me, as I believe she was blind and severely paraplegic she listened and smiled in such a way, it even moves me now, to think back to that wonderful day.  If you were in the church that day, let me know.  My experience on that first visit was amazing; A lot has changed since then, but if you do go to Medjugorje, go visit the Bronze Statue of the Risen Christ. similar to the weeping statues of the Virgin Mary it exudes a liquid almost like an oil, from the right knee, a very strange phenomenon considering it is made of bronze. It attract many pilgrims from around the world especially the U.S.A. I once took a photograph of it, and where the liquid is coming out of the knee in my photo there was a red and whitish blue streak coming out of it a bit like the Divine Mercy image , but unfortunately i lost it some how, as it was a new camera, and i did not copy it, i was devastated.
I met Fr Slavko a couple of years later by coincidence in England. He was with  Jelena who has Locutions. They were staying at Mount Saint Bernard's Abbey, Leicestershire, on retreat where I was requested to sing Immaculate Mary to Jelena, in the abbey itself.  I am sure Jelena would like all songs dedicated to Our Lady.  Especially a song with the lyrics devoted to the Queen of Peace or Gospa as she is better known in Bosnia. But I was pleased she got to hear it anyway; it was a very special moment for me as you can imagine.  Thanks to my friend Sister Rosalie, who requested I sing.
  I will be going to Medjugorje in Bosnia in 2011 around September time. 

The first Apparition were on June 24st 1981 but Celebrated on the 25th, as this is the first day the Seers spoke to  the Blessed Mother. It still amazes me that Our Lady blesses us with Apparitions Thirty Years on, One wonders just how long we will have to wait for the  Ten secrets to be revealed.  To find out more about the secrets click on the "Ten Secrets" above in yellow.
